About the job

Gehl is seeking candidates for a full-time Senior Strategist position in our San Francisco or New York office. You will be embedded within the Urban Activation team, managing projects that span site design and programming, strategic program development, data analytics and reporting, and emergent site-specific deliverables.

As an example of one of your projects, you might manage the data collection process on project sites, process and conceptualize data visualization, and manage production of visually compelling deliverables that translate user experience and site research into urban design, retail, and public art strategies that support the business objectives of a private sector client in direct collaboration with the client and design team.

You should be comfortable independently managing multiple workstreams at a time that are responsive to client needs. Depending on the workstream, work planning and deliverables can range from being primarily self-driven to working in active collaboration with project stakeholders and collaborators.

  • 4+ years of design and strategy experience, in a design or consulting environment, with responsibility for shaping processes and work products and supporting project management.

  • Urban design, planning, architectural and/or human centered design background.

  • A thorough understanding of standard graphic design tools, primarily Google Slides and Adobe Suite

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools, such as Excel or Tableau

  • Familiarity with graphic design, including balanced layouts, typography, and an expressive use of digital illustration

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills

Beneficial, but not required:

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, geo-spatial tools like ArcGIS and Replica, and 3D modeling experience is a benefit, but not a requirement.

  • Familiarity with the real estate, property management, and development sector, with a focus on creating great indoor and outdoor public spaces.

  • Proficiency in creating succinct communications for an executive audience.

  • Experience working with private sector corporate clients.

Candidates should demonstrate  strong visual communication skills and ability to communicate ideas and concepts through clear diagrams and data visualization woven cohesively into a compelling narrative. Candidates with interest in interdisciplinary practice, and who recognize the contribution of social science, sociology, psychology, and other areas of urban design, will likely find added value in this role and at Gehl.

Compensation and Benefits:

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for a Senior Strategist role at Gehl is $98,000 - $133,000.

As a team member at Gehl, you will enjoy:

  • 4 weeks of vacation leave plus 15 days of paid sick leave yearly

  • 11 paid company holidays

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, life and vision coverage including optional Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts
